Love Recording....
The usual rig, an Orange Rockerverb with a 4X12, and a Pedaltrain full of pedals.

I recently picked up this amp for a "portable" rig as opposed to the massive Orange 4X12 I've been using. I fell in love with the inspiration it brings, it's just got a whole different sound about it of course, and I feel it makes me play different. I just used it to track some intro parts on a new song called, Still Whispering Your Name. I also ditched my main guitar that I typically use, and ran a pawn shop Tele through this DeVille. Crazy fun. Good stuff.
Closure's a notion that just isn't true
Like Pain Brings Strength and Time heals all wounds
Under my skin words throb like a bruise
'Cuz those who say 'em,
Never knew you
"This too shall pass" is a phrase I've been told
To spit in my eye wouldn't be as cold
Pour nothing but silence in the cuts of my soul
That will sting less than any words of hope
-----
A breath can be taken without any warning
Was a typical, innocent, simple morning
'Till I sat in your room with my heart in my throat
Saw the future turn gray when your spirit let go
----
You laid so still, I was so thrown
Now your emptiness is all I hold
----
We're supposed to just handle the trouble we're given
If that is the case, I'm a failure at living
They say in the darkness, "Faith pulls you through"
Those who believe it
Never knew you
For much of the recording process, this was the rig that was used to track the bass parts. An Orange Terror Bass 1000 Watt Head, An Orange 4X10 Cabinet, and an Orange 1X15 Cabinet. I used a direct line out of the head, a Nuemann U87 with a cardioid pattern on one of the 10" speakers, and the DW moon mic (the same one we used on the kick drum) to capture the low end of the 15" speaker. I find this combination to be thick, monstrous, and so tasty.
